I spoke to Messenger with the printer

Prints and scans double-sided, allows you to create intelligent tasks in the form of macros, supports printing and scanning from anywhere on Earth, and also has its own bot on Messengerze. This is the new HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 multifunction printer for small offices.

From time to time I look at HP's new home and office printers because it's essential to print and scan in my home office. Although I work online, there is no day when I would not print documents or scanned invoices. I can only imagine what a less- fictitious job must look like, for example in a small law firm. One thing is certain: paper will be indispensable for a long time.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 is a printer that significantly surpasses my office needs. It does everything I need, and its parameters and functions make it a device - as our Western colleagues say - futureproof , so it's enough for years, even if the business grows significantly.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 is a multifunction device.

The equipment acts as a network printer and scanner, which also allows copying of documents. It is an inkjet device operating in HP Inkjet thermal technology. In the set we have four print cartridges (black, blue, magenta, yellow) allowing to print 1000 black and white pages and 700 color pages of each color.

The equipment is designed for small offices, but unlike typical office printers, it has a very compact size of approximately 40 x 44 x 32 cm. This is noticeably less than with competing solutions.

The device can be connected to the network wirelessly via Wi-Fi in the n standard or wired via the Ethernet port. We also have two RJ-11 modem ports, a USB input and a USB host port. We support the whole on a touch, colored, tilt screen, or from a computer or smartphone.

Everybody can handle the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 configuration.

Printer configuration is one of the elements that have improved significantly in recent years. In the case of the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023, the process consists of connecting the device to the power supply and inserting four cartridges of ink. Next, go to the computer and enter 123.hp.com in the browser window. The printer installation process takes place automatically and you do not need to have any knowledge of the network to go through the configurator.

This is quite a novelty for me, because in my memory network printers have written themselves as annoying devices in the configuration. Meanwhile, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 works remotely and wirelessly so that you do not even have to enter your Wi-Fi password on the printer screen, because the computer sends the password to the device via the Ad Hoc temporary Wi-Fi network created for configuration purposes.

Both pages are standard printing, but the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 can also scan double-sided.

The simplicity of the printer's operation also applies to operation. Two paper trays allow you to put 500 sheets of paper in your device, that is, a whole ream of paper. With really compact dimensions in its class, this is a great achievement.

The device allows automatic two-sided printing, with really high speed. It is a great convenience, as well as saving paper and time. I can not imagine translating paper for two-sided printing in office work.

Double-sided printing is already standard, but you can not say about double-sided scanning and copying. HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 supports both of these functions. In the case of the scanner, we have two feeders: placed on the glass, under the flap (it works, for example, when scanning books) and an automatic feeder at the top of the device. You can insert 35 sheets at once, then scan or copy them on both sides automatically, without the need for translation.

Smart Tasks are another example of time savings thanks to which we eliminate recurring activities.

Smart Tasks, or intelligent tasks, allow you to compress repetitive actions into one click. Example? I often scan an invoice that I later save in Google Drive. The Smart Task allows you to save such a series of actions, thanks to which at the same time they call the option of simultaneous scan with sending a copy to Google Drive.

The second example is contract printing. I print them most often in two copies, with double-sided printing. Instead of marking the appropriate options each time before printing, I can create a Smart Task and recall them if necessary. It's a great time saver.

There is also a touch screen to operate, as befits 2019.

It is not surprising that this class device can be operated via a touch screen with a convenient graphical interface. Of course, we have a choice of Polish. In addition, the screen can be tilted to make it easier to see.

However, I rarely used the screen, because HP has a really great and very extensive mobile application.

The HP Smart mobile application is a true harvester. We can view printer status, create Smart Tasks, print documents (including directly from the cloud, e.g. from Dropbox or Google Drive) and photos (eg from Facebook or Instagram), scan files, or use the smartphone for a quick scan documents.

The application also sends notifications when the ink begins to run out, and if we want, we can order a new one through it. What's more, if you are logged in to your HP account, the application allows you to print, scan and copy from anywhere in the world. We do not have to be in the same network as the HP device.

Remote printing is also possible from the email level.

HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 allows printing from the email. We can give the printer its own e-mail address in the HP service, save such a contact in its address book, and then send e-mails to that address. Attachments will be printed on the printer. The system works from anywhere on Earth.

The application allows you to define e-mail addresses from which it will be possible to print. This is a security measure so that unauthorized persons can not access our printer.

The conversation with the printer was a big novelty for me ... on Messengerze.

HP created a bot operating in Messengerze. It's called HP Print Bot and it allows you to print photos. We send the photo in the Messenger app, just like we would send it to a friend. Bot will praise us for the shot (how nice!) And will allow you to edit the print parameters, and then send the photo to the printer.

For this process to work, we need to verify your account in the HP Connected service, where we can assign a Facebook account to the printer. As a result, only we can send a photo to print, so there is no fear that unknown people will try to print their photos with us.

The last curiosity is a quiet mode, because sometimes everyone happens to work in strange times.

Quiet mode in the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 slows down printing to reduce noise, but this does not affect the quality of the printouts. Quiet mode works only on plain paper, so we will not print photos in this way. It really works, which I checked in the evening with my six-month baby sleeping behind the wall. Printing did not stop sleep.

In summary, the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023 has so many innovative solutions that it is difficult to recommend this device to the office.

The equipment has had a very positive impression on me, the quality of work, the level of development of additional network functions and the focus on the automation of repetitive activities. Smart Tasks combined with automatic two-sided printing and scanning is literally a new quality of office equipment.

With all these options the most surprising price is the HP OfficeJet Pro 9023, because the device can be purchased for less than PLN 1000. This is a very good proposition, especially for people who happen to work not only in the office, but also remotely.
