Acer showed the equipment I would like to put on my desk

Five powerful machines capable of meeting any creative challenge. This is the new Acer ConceptD line of computers designed for creative professionals.

Until now, Acer did not have computers in its portfolio that would be both efficient and nice at the same time. The Predator series met only the first of these criteria, and this lacked its key element, which creative people looking for a new laptop are looking at - a screen with good color reproduction.

The company apparently noticed this lack in its offer. But instead of adding to it one machine that could compete with, for example, a MacBook Pro or Surface Book 2 ... it released a whole line of computers designed to create.

Acer ConceptD is a line of equipment for the most demanding users.

The newly presented devices tick off all the points on the list of requirements of the most demanding prosumers - they have a powerful specification, extremely faithful color displays (at least on paper), they are innovative and are also enclosed in stylish housings.

Let's take a look at what Acer will have to offer to creative professionals.

Acer ConceptD 500 and ConceptD 900 are machines for special tasks.

The first two appliances in the series are traditional desktops with powerful performance. However, they have not been created for players, so we will not see here RGB lights and fancy housing, although it must be admitted that the housing of the smaller one - ConceptD 500 - looks extremely elegant. There is a good reason.

Acer ConceptD 500

The Acer ConceptD 500 was designed for use in home environments or small production studios. So where the computer will be constantly in view, its appearance will have to please the eye, both the creator and - perhaps - his clients. In addition to the beauty goes functionality - at the top of the housing we find the necessary connectors (including the slot for SD card) and mat for fast wireless charging of the phone. There was also a retractable ear hook.

Inside this housing we find very strong components. ConceptD can be configured with Intel Core processors up to i9-9900K, Nvidia Quadro RTX4000 graphics, memory up to 64 GB RAM DDR4 (unfortunately only 2666 mHz, although it may be a mistake in the manufacturer's specification) and memory for data in M.2 format NVMe.

Acer also boasts that he took care of proper cooling and mute the computer. Under load, its volume should not exceed 40 dB.

Acer ConceptD 500 will go on sale in Europe in July, at prices from 2799 euros.

ConceptD 900 from the outside is more like a classic "box". It is larger than the 500 model and not so beautiful, because it is also intended for large studies, where its appearance will be of secondary importance.

Acer ConceptD 900

The most important will be what under the hood. And it's rich there. ConceptD is equipped with dual Intel Xeon Gold 6148 processors (up to 40 cores, depending on the version), Nvidia Quadro RTX 6000 graphics and as many as 12 slots for operating memory, in which you can insert up to 192 GB of ECC memory.

There is also room for two M.2 PCIe drives and 5 hard drive bays. This equipment was created strictly for graphics and animation, although filmmakers probably would not have despised such a reserve of power, especially working with recordings with a resolution of 8K.

The Acer ConceptD 900 will go on sale in Europe in June for a price of 4999 euros.

Acer ConceptD 9 is the wildest project in the whole series

Designed for 3D graphics, ConceptD 9 only seemingly resembles a traditional laptop. It looks like this until we notice that the 17.3-inch display with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 can be swung out, extended or tilted. Acer calls this mechanism "EZEL", which is undoubtedly a clever variation on the English word "easel", meaning easel.

The same display is also compatible with the included Wacom EMR stylus, which can be magnetically attached to the housing. The screen also covers 100%. Adobe RGB color space, with Delta E <1 parameter, which places it at the top of the ladder when it comes to color reproduction in mobile displays.

Of course, the screen must still have something to propel. Acer ConceptD 9 uses for this purpose Intel Core i7 or i9 processors as well as Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 graphics, supported by max. 32 GB of RAM and two M.2 NVMe drives with a capacity of up to 512 GB, configured in RAID 0 (combined for higher data transfer speed).

The icing on the cake is a set of necessary connectors on the edges and an unusual keyboard, located close to the edge, for greater convenience when the screen is tilted. The trackpad, like in the weirdest gaming laptops, was placed on the right side of the keyboard.

Acer ConceptD 9 will go on sale in Europe in August, at prices from 4999 euros.

Acer ConceptD 7 throws the gauntlet on the most expensive MacBook Pro 15.

The new MacBook Pro 15 with Vega graphics costs from 15,000. zł. high and objectively, it does not affect performance (if we use programs other than optimized Final Cut Pro X for example).

Acer ConceptD 7 will cost less and offer much more.

Underneath the stylish white case, the Intel Core i7 9 gen. Processor works with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q graphics. For such a powerful equipment, ConceptD 7 is surprisingly mobile - it measures only 17.9 mm thick and weighs 2.1 kg.

The icing on the cake is a display covering 100%. Adobe RGB color space with the Delta E <2 parameter. Acer boasts that this laptop was designed for filmmakers, and its computing power will allow to edit recordings from RED cameras with a resolution of up to 6K, although the components and screen will also be well-suited to photography and gaming. I admit, I can not wait for this equipment to fall into my hands. Acer ConceptD 7 will go on sale in Europe in July, at a price of 2299 euros. Acer

ConceptD 5 is a laptop for creative, not-only-professionals.

The last of the new line of computers will probably be the most popular among consumers. It offers everything that is necessary for creative work, and knowing Acer, it will not cost millions.

ConceptD 5 has a classic, magnesium-aluminum housing, which we associate even with the Nitro series, but in the white finish. Despite being "the lowest" in the hierarchy, ConceptD 5 does not skimp on the display - it's a 15.6-inch screen with UHD resolution, covering 100%. Adobe RGB color space with Delta E> 2. It is surrounded by frames only 6.2 mm wide, while the laptop itself weighs only 1.5 kg and measures 16.9 mm at its thickest point.

Acer ConceptD 7

The Intel Core i7 8 gen. Processor will work under the hood, supported by the Radeon RX Vega M GL graphics card, 16 GB RAM, with NVMe drive up to 1 TB.

If this computer I would like to check and appreciate, for example, the fact that there is a slot for SD card on the edge, now I see one compromise, which will be difficult for many people to reconcile - there is no Thunderbolt 3 connector, only USB -C 3.1. In this category there is a considerable shortage, which is difficult to justify the price, although it is low enough to tempt not only professionals but also enthusiasts.

Acer ConceptD 5 will go to Europe in July, priced from 1699 euros.

Wait - there is something else!

In addition to the computer line, Acer also presented two monitors that blend in perfectly with them. Both cover 99 percent. Adobe RGB color space, 93 percent DCI-P3 space and support the DisplayHDR 1000 standard, with the Delta E <1 parameter.

ConceptD CM7321K was created for the benefit of 2D creators. It has 32 "diagonal and 4K UHD resolution. It is also a monitor made in Mini LED technology, which in theory should compensate for any problems with light leaks or uneven backlight. It also supports G-sync technology. This monitor was created primarily for filmmakers and photographers.

Acer ConceptD CD7321K

CM7321K will go on sale in Europe in September, at a price of 3199 euros.

For those who work with 3D graphics, games and animation, Acer has the ConceptD CM7271K, which is 27 "and is not a Mini LED monitor, but offers not only excellent color and 4K resolution, but also a refresh rate of 144 h. As far as I know, it is the first monitor on the market, which is also suitable for working with color and games. Both in terms of creativity and entertainment.

Acer ConceptD CD7271K

CM7271K will be available in Europe in July, at a price of 2099 euros.

The last raisin in ConceptD line is ConceptD OJO - mixed reality goggle with 4320 x 2160 resolution. We do not know its price or availability, but similarly to Microsoft HoloLens goggles, ConceptD OJO is still a curiosity, strictly intended for B2B sales.

Acer went into a new category with a boost.

The ConceptD series devices have a huge opportunity for market success. Already, many creative professionals use the company's computers, but with the Predator gaming line , because they have the highest performance.

Now that Acer will offer the makers of the device equally efficient, but much nicer, with much better displays, many of them probably can be persuaded.

I just hope that the new Asus computers, especially laptops, will prove to be just as good as on paper.
