Vlogger s dream. DJI Osmo Pocket combines the ultimate video capabilities with professional stabilization
DJI does not slow down. DJI Osmo Pocket is small, neat, but it offers a lot of film possibilities.
He records in 4K 60p, has slow motion mode of 120 fps and several intelligent movie modes, and his working time is up to 140 minutes. The new DJI Osmo Pocket gimbal stands out above all for its extremely compact dimensions. At first glance, it looks like a thick dictaphone with a small camera module. It is undoubtedly a mobile device, small (121.9 × 36.9 × 28.6 mm) and light (116g) directed to all those who love to record videos for social media.

The new DJI equipment has a 1-inch touch screen.
The display can be used not only for live viewing or viewing of materials made, but also for browsing the menu and changing modes. And these are a little bit.
ActiveTrack is to effectively track the lens moving in the frame, FaceTrack will capture and keep the focus on the face of the chosen person, and Timelapse & Motionlapse will be used to make effective time-lapse videos in a simple way. There was also a panoramic photo mode. For those who do not need a 1-inch screen, Osmo Pocket offers the possibility of connecting a smartphone that will act as the main screen.
The manufacturer also presented a set of nine accessories that are to expand the creative capabilities of the device. I like that among them there was, for example, a small stand or a smartphone holder.
DJI Osmo Pocket has a small, 1 / 2.3-inch matrix with a resolution of just 12 megapixels.
The camera lens has a field of view of 80 degrees and a brightness of f / 2.0. The camera works with sensitivity in the range of ISO 100-3200 and exposure times of 8s-1 / 8000s. He can also save files in JPEG and DNG format. However, the most important are films, not photos.
The camera offers the option of recording 4K 60p movies at 100Mbps (MPEG-4 AVC / H.264). In slow motion mode, we also have the speed of 120 fps. There were also two microphones with noise reduction technology and background noise - one is on the back of the webcam and the other on the side, offering 48 KHz AAC quality.
The producer states that the battery will last for 140 minutes in 4K 30p. It is worth noting that the Osmo Pocket does not have an interchangeable battery. The built-in rechargeable battery with a capacity of 875 mAh can be charged via USB-C, for example from a power bank.
The device has two movie modes. In Story Mode, Osmo Pocket simplifies the recording process. The device suggests various templates, ready-made camera movements, and also has built-in music patterns or grading presets for post-production. In turn, Pro Mode gives you full freedom of manual settings and is dedicated to professionals.
We are dealing here with a sensor about the size of a small fingernail, so I would not expect an extraordinary image quality. It's a matrix with similar parameters as the DJI Osmo + I tested, but the quality of the image left a lot to be desired - especially at higher sensitivities.
DJI Osmo Pocket has a matrix similar in size to many smartphones, but offers something more: 3-axis image stabilization.
Osmo Pocket will certainly appeal to people who care about stable, liquid video recordings. The 3-axis gimbal mechanism should deal with vibration reduction better than any camera on your smartphone. Therefore, it is an interesting solution for vloggers, which are satisfied by the image quality at the smartphone level. Or as an additional work tool that you can always have with you.
DJI Osmo Pocket is to cost 349 dollars, and in Poland ... 1649 PLN.
The new gimbal with a camera is therefore more expensive about PLN 300 than DJI Osmo + with a Zenmuse X3 camera. However, the Osmo Pocket has a lot of advantages: it is smaller and lighter, but it also offers up to 140 minutes of work, more than 3 times longer than Osmo +. In addition, the camera has a wider angle (96 to 80 degrees) and is much brighter (f / 2.8 to f / 2).
